Your Home Can Improve Your Mental Health

What if a few simple design changes immediately made you feel better?

Environmental stressors negatively affect our mental health.

Environmental stressors come in many forms. Our modern built environments are filled with emotional triggers!

THE PROBLEM: Us humans tend to design our environments based on immediate physical comfort and aesthetic impressiveness rather than emotional well-being. In doing so, we seem to be constantly creating places that unintentionally inflict harm on ourselves and others.

We are here to tell you that your home could be partially responsible for your poor mental health. Good news is that design problems are a whole lot easier to solve than most mental health challenges!

You deserve to feel safe.

We’re still greatly influenced by our instinctual relationships to the places we came from.

Don’t worry. We’re not saying you need to live in a cave or become a hunter gatherer to regain your mental health. However, if our cave-dwelling ancestors spent a day in the life of an average modern human, they’d have a melt down. They’d run back to their cave as fast as they could!

Something about that cave made it a safe place. Safe enough to sleep in an environment where we would have been prey more often than predator. Why that space made us feel safe and how to bring that feeling into a modern bedroom is the basis of Environmental Psychology.

MOST of the places we spend our lives make us feel bad.

Modern life is incredibly stressful. A large part of that stress comes from what we DO with our lives, but it also comes from WHERE we spend our lives.

So, what do we do about this? Go on a permanent vacation? Quit our jobs and go live in luxury eco-resorts in the wilderness? Unfortunately, that’s not possible for most of us.

OUR SOLUTION: Make your home feel like that dreamy eco-resort. Then, you’ll actually want to spend time at home because will make you feel amazing!

Anxiety, depression, agitation, boredom…

These are just a few of the emotional ailments that we can help you alleviate by optimizing your living environments for maximum wellness potential.

Think of this service as something that will identity potential underlying causes of your emotional distress, then provide the personalized you’ll need to transform your home into an uplifting place that supports your healing.

“I’m so exhausted, I can’t possibly do more!”

You’re not alone!

You’ve probably already tried talk therapy, medications, eating well, getting active, meditation, spirituality and/or any of the other numerous solutions to today’s mental health epidemic.

All of the above solutions are great but can end up being pretty exhausting. It takes a lot of strength, commitment, and resilience to take care of yourself by “doing more” or trying to “improve yourself”. Not to mention everything else you have to do to make money, take care of your family, and save the world!

Don’t worry. Take a deep breath. We are here for you. Our Environmental Psychology-based solutions focus on ease. Plus, you make these changes ONCE and they continue to support you with little to no ongoing effort!

We understand what you’re going through.

  1. Your anxiety levels are probably through the roof.

  2. You likely feel kind of sad or lonely most of the time, even if not suffering from full blown depression.

  3. You could feel trapped, overwhelmed, overworked, or just desperately wish you could go on vacation

  4. You can’t put your phone down and keep endlessly scrolling through Instagram hoping to find someone or something to help you feel better, but most of the time you instead find something that upsets you or makes you feel less than.

  5. You watch more Netflix than you care to admit and probably also subscribe to several other streaming services because you crave escape from your own reality.

  6. You constantly think about how much better your life would be if you just had more money, more free time, or that new thing you want so badly but can’t quite afford or just really shouldn’t buy right now.

  7. You’ve probably tried medication, meditation, every herbal supplement under the sun, and talking to several different therapists, but still just don’t feel all that great, at least not most of the time.

  8. You love your family and/or the people you live with, but sometimes they can be emotionally draining and you feel like you don’t ever get enough “me time.” (Note: We know we’re putting this one delicately and that it’s likely much worse.)

  9. You might have even surrendered to the fact that this is just “how life goes” and you’ll just “have to make due” and/or “learn to be grateful for what you have.”

Any of these descriptions sound like you? We genuinely think we can help.

Making you feel better is more rewarding than any monetary gain we get from doing this. We don’t expect you to fully believe us when we haven’t even met yet, but we really hope you’ll give us a chance!

30-minutes can change your life.

Yes, we know, that headline sounds cliché and ridiculous. It kind of hurt to write it, but there’s really no better way to describe how dramatically environmental design influences your behavior and outlook on life. Once you start thinking like an Environmental Psychologist, you will start seeing everything around you differently.

Our built environments are our physical realities.

Book a 30-minute Telehealth Consultation with us to start improving your reality. We will help you discover how your personal living environments can become so much more than climate controlled boxes filled with pretty things.

Start with simple changes.

-Feeling depressed? Color can really make a difference.

-Feeling overworked and under appreciated? Plant or pets could be exactly what you need.

-Ever snap and say things to your loved ones that you immediately feel guilty about? Spa-like lighting techniques, soundproofing, and other soothing sensory details can diffuse agitation.

-Are your children constantly screaming and stressing you out? Environmental Psychology works on children too!

Kind words from a few of the people we’ve helped.

“I thought I knew everything there was to know about wellness, but the MoNA Life approach is completely different and utterly amazing. As someone who’s almost a self-care addict at this point, I’d tried Feng Shui and already thought I had created a peaceful sanctuary in my Santa Monica home and garden, by MoNA Life identified so many very specific issues that I didn’t even realize were contributing to my insomnia and feelings of inadequacy.” -Cynthia Alvarado, Los Angeles

“MoNA Life is incredible. We practice Buddhism and already believed in living life in the service of others. Troy helped us truly connect to our outdoor environments in ways that were completely unexpected. Our landscape is no longer a gravel pit with tortured marshmallow-shaped hedges. It is regenerative ecosystem that takes care of us more than we take care of it. The space looks and feels like a natural, Zen paradise and effortless provides us with fresh food which we forage from the front and backyard all year round. In Las Vegas!” -Maria and Micah Bleecher, Las Vegas

“I didn’t believe my Manhattan apartment could make me feel like I’m vacationing in Bali. I take a deep breath and smile every time I walk in the door after a day of non-stop hustle and bustle.” - Tommy Weinstein, New York

“I couldn’t be happier and more blown away by the backyard transformation. I moved from a very private home in Long Island to a gated community in Del Mar. The culture shock was really getting to me. I missed my gardens and my privacy. Of course, the weather in San Diego is amazing, but most of the residential landscapes out here feel like a hodgepodge of very artificial looking plants spaced way too far apart and surrounded by mulch or gravel. Troy helped me create a regionally appropriate, naturalistic landscape that was highly detail oriented, filled with movement, texture, layers of visual interest. It captured the feeling and colors that made me feel at ease. Now it feels like all I want to do is spend time in my backyard oasis. It’s the perfect way to relieve anxiety.” -Marc Florin, San Diego

Ready to start transforming your environment?

When you book a 30-minute Telehealth Consultation, you will begin your personal environmental wellness journey at a price we’ve never been able to offer clients in the past.

Typically, our On-site Wellness Consultations can cost upwards of $1,000 including lodging and travel expenses.

Now, thanks to the recently increased accessibility and success of Zoom-based remote consultations, you can live video chat with one of our Environmental Psychology Consultants to receive personalized recommendations specific to your unique environment and mental health challenges for only $95 total!

Through the magic of Zoom, we can offer a service that is typically only accessible to the ultra-affluent and make it accessible to anyone who cares about their mental health and overall well-being.

Since we’re saving on all the travel, lodging, and design presentation time, we are able to offer individualized design insights that could have cost you over $2,000 for only $95!

Honestly, we’re not sure how long we’ll be able to offer this service at such a low price. With the recent pandemic still negatively impacting so many people’s mental health, we felt like we had to do our part to help.

Since your living environments make up a large part of your actual reality, they directly impact your mental health. This should be a service covered by all health insurance plans, but sadly we’re not there yet.

That’s why we felt like it was so important to do our part and help out as many people who are struggling with their mental health as possible. Offering a 30-minute Telehealth Consultation for only $95 was the best way we could come up with to do this!

Nothing to loose. Everything to gain.

We believe in helping others. It’s a big part of what makes us feel good about using the principles of Environmental Psychology to help ordinary people feel amazing.

Honestly, we get it if you’re struggling financially right now. Or maybe you just think $95 isn’t worth it. If that’s how you’re feeling, you probably still don’t trust us or fully understand the power of Environmental Psychology.

We are not pushy used car salespeople here at MoNA Life. Believe us, we’re not going to get rich charging only $95 for a 30-minute Telehealth Consultations.

We wouldn’t be offering this service at this ridiculously low price if money was our motivator. Sure we have to pay our bills to survive in the modern world just like everyone else, but there are many corporations out there who would pay us a lot of money to help design environments that make people feel compelled to spend more money. It just never felt that good for our founder, Troy Silva when he was hired to do that in the past.

At the end of the day, we believe Environmental Psychology is a superpower. It can be used to Uplift or Exploit. We choose to Uplift even if it’s more financially lucrative to exploit.

Still don’t believe us or think you could benefit from a 30-mintute Telehealth Consultation? If after our session, you are not 100% satisfied, simply ask your Environmental Wellness Consultant for a refund. We’ll be happy to give you your money back. Just let us know how we can improve and/or what you were hoping for that you did not receive. Just please don’t let the fear of loosing $95 or this not working stop you from trying this. Everyone stands to benefit immensely from this. Everyone including you.

A message from our Founder.

“Hey there! I’m Troy. I can’t wait to hear from you. After two decades of designing and consulting as an Environmental Psychology expert for some of the wealthiest people and companies on the planet, I’m thrilled to be now helping a much broader range of clientele through these 30-minute Telehealth Consultations. Everyone deserves to feel good and it makes me feel good to uplift as many people as possible rather than a select fortunate few.”

-Troy Silva, Environmental Psychologist, Ecosystem Design Expert, and Founder of the MoNA Life Organization

You have questions? We have answers.

Here are 5 of the most frequently asked questions we get about our 30-minute Environmental Psychology Telehealth Consultations:

  1. What specific types of design changes do you most often recommend? Specific wall color changes, layout changes, adding plants and other natural materials, lighting changes, ambient sound additions, and scent changes are commonly recommended based on your individual mental health challenges. However, there is no “cure all” or “one-size-fits-all” set of recommendations.

  2. Do I have to show you my whole home or can we just focus on one area? You do not need to show us any more than you are comfortable with. In fact, we can just video chat one on one without touring your environment at all if you are uncomfortable showing us the space. Also, we do encourage focusing on a single space per consultation, not the entire home. It is better to create a complete Regenerative Ecosystem in a specific space than change all of your living environments at the same time. Contrasting environments are often the best strategy anyway from an Environmental Psychology perspective. A monotonous design may photograph well, but is definitely a missed opportunity when it comes to optimizing your individual environments to maximize mental health.

  3. How expensive will it be to implement your environmental design recommendations? This really depends more on your budget and individual needs. We are not contractors and do not profit from creating an expensive solution. We always recommend you come up with at least a rough budget that would feel relatively painless given your current financial situation. If you only have $100 to spend on improving your bedroom for more optimal sleep patterns this month for instance, we are not going to recommend custom blackout blinds that automatically, gradually wake you up in the morning instead of that anxiety inducing smartphone alarm tone. In this situation we would be more likely to recommend just painting your room a darker color this month. Then you could save up to make our additional recommended improvements at a later date.

  4. How many sessions will I need to create environments that make a significant impact on my mental health? Even a single session will provide you with enough environmental design recommendations to significantly improve a specific room in your home or area of your garden. However, we cannot guarantee that these initial recommended changes will result in a full optimized Regenerative Ecosystem. We will likely recommend at least one follow-up consultation, unless it’s determined that Environmental Psychology isn’t the best mental health services for your unique situation. Many of our clients book monthly sessions after experiencing such powerful improvements to their emotional well-being that they want to keep going. Depending on how large your home is and what your mental health goals are, it is quite possible to continually optimize multiple living environments for the foreseeable future.

  5. What if this doesn’t work for me or makes me feel even worse? Environmental Psychology is a powerful tool that we truly believe can be used to help anyone feel better. That said, a Psychiatrist, Therapist, Life Coach, Spiritual Leader, and/or Personal Trainer should not be written off in favor of focusing exclusively on design recommendations from an Environmental Psychologist at MoNA Life. We always say, “We fix places, not people.” The places we fix, have a proven track record of success making people feel good. However, we are not magicians and can’t get it right the first time 100% of the time. Here’s the thing. No one can. That Psychiatrist might initially prescribe you a medication that makes you feel horrible. That same Psychiatrist would also urge you to try something else or change your dosage rather than give up on the field of Psychiatry as a whole. Keep trying. Don’t lose hope. Eventually, you will find a combination of mental health services that make you feel amazing. We hope we get to be part of your wellness journey, but you have zero obligation to continue working with us if you’re not getting the results you desire.
